Love My Nook!

I finally gave in to my raging lust for the Barnes and Noble Nook. For months, I've been pouring over the internet and writing letters to friends for recommendations. My major deal is that I like buying local. With an economy in crisis, I like to keep my dollars as home as often as possible so, living in a town where there is no Barnes and Noble (sniff sniff) sort of eliminated the wireless Nook from the competition. I'd pretty much decided to go for a Sony Touch which is available here, but what happens? I learn my local Best Buy is now carrying the Nook.

YAY! Oh happy day!

So yes, I picked up the Nook along with a beautiful leather cover (eggplant...lovely) at a price that is so nice. It was cheaper than both the Kindle and the Sony Touch by quite a bit and there was no need to shell out extra money for a charger. I like that too. Now I knew when I got this home I would be in big trouble due to my wanting to PLAY rather than finish my work in progress. I set it aside and told myself I would not open the package until I'd completed the story. Ummm....that didn't happen. After a particularly good writing day, I opened it up very late one night and found it was super easy to set up. Took me about ten minutes to set up my B&N account, watch a short video (which plays on the site and on the Nook itself). After that, I began loading my books. I had a huge collection, as most of us do, on my computer and in seconds, I had them all loaded and was ready to read.

I don't read until late in the evening and realized quickly that I needed to get a light. My Best Buy was out of them so I'll be heading back to pick one up. My verdict so far? Not expensive, easy to use, and pretty damn cool. So far I haven't made a purchase at B&N yet but I plan to do that soon. As to the Kindle? I know lots of readers love them and I learned recently that Target stores will soon have them. Looks like options are growing for those of us who love reading ebooks.

In other news: Jaguar Hunger was voted Book of the Week at Whipped Cream Reviews. How neat is that???? Also I'm guest blogging today with the fabulous Cerise DeLand. Stop by and give me a holler at http://cerisedeland.blogspot.com

Blogging Fool...That's Me!

I woke up a little late this morning. Late for me anyway...about 9 am. and dang it, my fingers were NUMB. Yes, I've been a blogging fool this week. I've been a blogger for several years now and I've found I really like it. It's a good way to promote yourself, your work and to make new friends and reconnect with old friends. There are lots and lots of ways to promote yourself as an author. Most of us do the social networking things like facebook, myspace, and twitter and yeah, they are fun. I'm especially fond of Facebook (my favorite little time-waster). Still, when I check the stats on my website, I often find I get more visitors from blogs that I either write or blogs where I'm a "guest". So yeah, I'd have to say that of all the form of promotion I do blogging and chatting on some of the many loops serve me in good stead.

That being said, this week has been INSANE. On Wednesday, I was one of author Brynn Paulin's Wednesday Wonder Writers. She has an awesome blog, asked a bunch of cool questions and comments were out the roof. I think everyone was especially taken with my ooky feelings over the Burger King with the creepy plastic head! Ah, yes. The damn King creeps me the hell OUT. Then yesterday, erotic author Madison Scott invited me over to play. She has a kickass new blog and we smacked it with a big bottle of bubbly to get it nice and initiated. Please head over there today and get all the deets on her upcoming BLOG TOUR. Lots of contest prizes...books, books, books.

Today, Ellora's Cave author Tina Donahue is featuring my new shifter/menage Jaguar Hunger (EC) which is VERY nice of her considering she has a brand new bdsm masterpiece out TODAY! Here's the cover! OMG...isn't is amazing??? I can't wait to read this one. It sounds DELICIOUS. Read the blurb and you'll see why.

Blurb:

A wickedly sensual feast…

Eden DeCarlo may have narrowly lost Miami’s best chef competition and the prize money she desperately needs, but she has caught the eye of dangerously virile Rafael Zayas, one of the judges and a wealthy restaurateur. Despite her vow not to let any man derail her life, Eden’s captivated by Rafe’s imposing masculinity, then challenged by the business deal he offers. He’ll invest in her new venture if, for one month, she can satisfy his culinary expectations and the sexual attraction they both feel.

Dominant and unashamed, Rafe knows what he wants when it comes to carnal pleasure and will spare no seduction to have Eden in all the ways he demands—naked, wanting, submissive.

Within thirty days, he will teach her the delights of yielding to passion, relinquishing all control to him and fulfilling her deepest, darkest and most delicious desires.
