Dana vs Kelly...and GIVEAWAY! Day Two!

Hey there, it’s me, Dana Arthur from Restraining the Receptionist, back again for more of the brutally honest, hard-hitting, multi-part exposé involving me and Kelly Crossman from Provoke Me. Tee-hee. Exposé. I like that word. Actually, we’re just hanging out with each other asking random questions. Yesterday I grilled Kelly about her hottie Spencer (you can check it out here) and today, it’s Kelly’s turn to take the gloves off. Knowing her, that’s not all she’ll be taking off.

Don’t forget to comment for a chance to win the first book in each series – Reveal Me and Training the Receptionist. Even if you commented yesterday, if you comment again you’ll be entered twice. See, aren’t we the coolest??

Take it away, Kelly!

KELLY: Take it off...take it away...whoa, hot flash! Okay, back to the job at hand. I have to say I’m glad to meet another woman who’s not afraid to go after what she wants…especially when her wants come in multiples. I gotta admit, Spencer’s plenty for me to handle, so how the heck do you deal with TWO hot as feck guys? Both dominant and sexy and dominant… *shudder* If I ever come to Low-life, Long Island, I promise to bring a bib so I don’t embarrass you by drooling too much!

Which brings me to my first question…

Two guys. One Dana. Where did you learn to juggle?

DANA: You know what they say … practice makes perfect. Snort. But it’s not just any two guys we’re talking about here. It’s Simon and Ethan, the loves of my life. I didn’t set out to be with two men, it just kind of worked out that way. So sure, there’s some juggling involved. And a pogo stick. Or two. You know, since we’re going with the circus theme. Next I’ll be taming lions and riding elephants. (Wait, maybe I am already.) Anyway, it all just adds to the adventure. And I’m all about the adventure.

KELLY: So being a receptionist WASN’T your dream job, but that’s before you came to work for Cowell & Dirk I’m assuming. But how do you keep your mind on work when you have Simon and Ethan being all dominating…I mean, working beside you?

DANA: I’ll tell you a secret. I’m not entirely sure what kind of business Cowell & Dirk is in. I think they’re consultants or something? Just kidding. I know what they do. I just don’t really care that much. It’s not like I run the place. Yet. Have I mentioned my plans for world domination? Doesn’t the name Cowell, Dirk & Arthur have a ring to it? Maybe soon … stay tuned!

KELLY: Simon or Ethan…who likes to spoon? (AKA cuddle…just had to explain, since for all I know you guys could have invented a new sexual position called that.)

DANA: Spoon…fork…it’s all good. With condiments or without. But seriously, I know what you’re trying to ask. Both Ethan and Simon are on the dominant side, so which one is the warm and fuzzy guy. That would be Simon. Ethan has more of an edge – he’s the guy you want by your side in a dark alley. He’s one tough hombre. (Do they have hombres in England?) I didn’t even know how tough Ethan was until recently. I don’t want to go into it too much, but he pretty much saved my life. I’d do anything for that man, and so would Simon. The more you get to know Ethan, the more you love him. Take it from me.

KELLY: Ethan has been known to tease you with other girls. You go for that? (Talk softly, please. I’m afraid Spencer may overhear and get bad ideas…)

DANA: OMG, are you talking about Chantalette? Don’t even get me started on Chantalette! Worst temp ever!!! The day she filled in for me, she never even turned on her headset. What happened was, one day Ethan decided to tease me by NOT teasing me, and teasing her instead. He’s an evil genius when it comes to sex. You just never know what he’s going to do next. I’ve learned to go with the flow with him, and I’ve never once regretted it. Besides, I got news for you: I think Spencer has plenty of bad ideas all on his own.
KELLY: And for my fluff…we all know Meatloaf would do anything for love…how about you? How far is too far in lucky-as-hell Dana Arthur land?

DANA: As soon as I figure that out, you’ll be the first to know. Or maybe the second. Never mind – the third. Simon and Ethan get first crack. That’s the funny thing about breaking through your boundaries. You never know where you’ll end up or what will come next. That’s why it’s so fun. So more to come on that…

KELLY: Thanks so much for answering my questions, Dana. You’re a rockin’ chick and I feel like a total newb when it comes to this sort of thing compared to you. Jot your number down for me, will ya? I promise to only call in dire sex-mergencies.

DANA: Sure! Just dial 69-1-1. (Honestly, I crack myself up sometimes.) Thanks to you too, Kelly, and good luck with that mancandy of yours!

And one more time for the weekend crowd, here are the blurbies and linkies.

Restraining the Receptionist

Every deal has a loophole.

…the Receptionist, Book 2

Dana Arthur’s new job with the firm of Cowell & Dirk is going well. Translation: the occasionally kinky ménage with her two bosses, Ethan and Simon, has been several months of politically incorrect bliss.

Except the relationship feels unbalanced. While Ethan is the undisputed master, the partners’ iron-clad agreement stipulates that Simon must be present as she performs her “duties”. And she senses there’s a subtle, powerful tug-of-war developing for more than just her body.

Simon had agreed to share the firm’s fiery, sensually daring receptionist…to a point. With Simon out of town, Ethan plans a feast of erotic temptations designed to have Dana begging him to break the deal. He didn’t realize his heart would be a casualty.

Once she surrenders to his wicked demands, Dana realizes there’s no going back. It’s time for a three-way renegotiation…this time, all or nothing.

Dana vs Kelly...and GIVEAWAY!

Today's my blogging day, and I invited a special guest. Okay, two guests! Most awesome author Juniper Bell and her heroine Dana Arthur from ...the Receptionist series at Samhain agreed to an interview, but I let Kelly Crossman from Provoke Me handle my end of it. Come back tomorrow for part 2!

And did I mention there are prizes? Check out what Juniper has to say about THAT below! Feel free to ask me and Juniper – or Dana and Kelly – any questions you would like. We'll try to drag the ladies away from their sexy guys long enough to answer!

Hi, I’m Juniper Bell. When Cari Quinn and I realized that our heroines (Kelly Crossman from Provoke Me and Dana Arthur from Restraining the Receptionist) had a few things in common, we decided to turn them loose on each other in a down-and-dirty, no-holds-barred, girl-on-girl interview. Has it ever been done before? Will it ever be done again? Who knows? In any case, they had fun, and we hope you do too. Just to make sure, we’re offering the first book in each series – Reveal Me and Training the Receptionist -- to one lucky commenter. And if you come back tomorrow for Part 2 and comment AGAIN, you’ll be entered twice!

Dana vs. Kelly … go!

DANA: First off, I just gotta say, Kelly, I like your style. You go for what you want and you don’t take crap from anyone. If you’re ever in New York, come on out to Low-Life, Long Island and we’ll have some cocktails. Tequila shots on me.

Okay, enough sucking up. On to the interview questions. Keep in mind, I’m a receptionist, so don’t think I’m going to go all Nancy Grace on you. I’ll keep it fluffy.

Your crush, Spencer, is a total hottie. But I couldn’t help notice that you don’t have sex just with him. Damn, girl! I don’t want to give anything away, but sometimes there are other people – ahem – involved. So here’s my question: do you like sex better when it’s just you and Spencer, or with some company?

(By the way, can’t you just picture Nancy Grace asking that? Or maybe Diane Sawyer?)

KELLY: Oh wow, I sure can. Look at you starting with the hard hitting in depth reporting first thing! Imagine if I had any really juicy secrets...well, I suppose I do. Except they're not really secrets when you're re-enacting them for crowds, huh? So...hmm. Honestly I'd have to say while I like having an extra man at my disposal now and then, I prefer to be one on one with Spencer. As much as I love when he goes all territorial on me, I love even more when he's on top of...um, erm, yeah, just us is fine. He's enough for me to deal with all on his own.

DANA: We’ve both fallen for our bosses. Plural, in my case. What’s the biggest downside and biggest upside of a workplace romance?

KELLY: We sure have, haven't we? Upside is proximity. If you're feeling frisky and your lover's a few inches away, well, that good old cliché of public bathroom sex started for a reason, right? Though come to think of it, we've never done it there. That's actually kind of tame when doing it in public's your standard schtick, you know? But on the loveseat in the boss's office...now that's a different story.

Biggest downside? Proximity. Kinda hard to hide your affair from your co-workers when your thong starts smoking whenever the boss walks by. Plus, smoldering looks and wicked thoughts tend to negatively impact productivity. Not that I don't have my priorities...which is why I make sure to keep Spencer in my sights as often as humanly possible. Never know when an opportunity to avail yourself of the nearest wall may arise.

DANA: If they made a movie out of your story (and I wish they would, that’s the kind of movie I’d watch!), who would you pick to play you and Spencer?

KELLY: You really are Diane Sawyer-ish! Though the name “Diane” is way too close to “Diana” and I hate that name. Not for any particular reason, just because.

For Spencer I'd pick...umm, I dunno. Paul Walker's yummy, but Spencer has more muscles. So maybe Paul Walker after some hardcore time at the gym? As for me, I'm not sure. It would need to be someone way better looking than me. Because if I have a chance to be gorgeous, I'm not wasting it on, say, Julia Roberts. Not that she's not attractive, but she's more of an ordinary gal like me. So my pick is Jennifer Lopez. Yeah, I know I'm not Puerto Rican, but she's People's Most Beautiful Woman this year AND she sings and dances! Holy coordinated. Who cares if we look nothing alike? She's hot!

DANA: You and Spencer work way too hard, if you ask me! You’re both workaholics because you love your bookstore so much. (And by the way, in my mind the store was called “Book Nookie,” not “Book Nook.” Just so you know.) Dr. Dana thinks you should take a vacation. What would you and Spencer’s perfect vacation be?

KELLY: Book Nookie really works! Damn, wish I'd known you before we named our new store! Spencer doesn't take vacations. I don't really either, but that's a financial hardship more than any other. Student loans are a bitch to pay off, you know? But he just doesn't believe in them or something. I bet the last one he took was in, like, 1993. Perfect vacation for us would be something dorky. Like... a trip to see the Museum of Natural History and then a night walking—and not walking—on the beach. Though I've heard sand is a real hindrance to beach...walks.

DANA: So about this club, Kink. Would I like it?

KELLY: Oh, I can so totally picture you, Simon and Ethan there! Ethan especially seems like he would be down with getting down in public. But you can always just watch. I think appreciating the scenery is half the fun of Kink. Just watch out for the weirdos who approach you with their hand down their pants. Some guys like to get the party started early...ick!

DANA: Thanks for answering my questions, Kelly! You’re a lot of fun, and I think all the nice readers out there should check you out.

KELLY: Thank YOU, Dana! I'm not one to ever consider looking at guys other than Spencer as more than living sex toys, but I gotta tell you, Simon and Ethan make a girl want to reconsider. If you ever get tired of them, send them down to Maryland for a spell, would you? We're VERY friendly down south!

DANA: I just bet you are! Friendly in all the right ways.

So if you guys want to know more about Kelly and me, here’s our blurby-thingies. And some linky-thingies. Come back tomorrow for Part 2 of the interview, in which Kelly makes me squirm. And not in the good way.

Restraining the Receptionist by Juniper Bell

NOTE:  Juniper's post was scheduled for yesterday, Saturday, June 11. However, through a blogger glitch--don't we just love those? LOL--it did not post, and therefore has been posted today. And oddly enough is showing the date as yesterday. Beats me! I'm just glad she's here and her new book looks smokin' hawt!!!!

I’m going through first-time jitters all over again. Trembling with nerves, torn between desire and shyness. Wondering if I’ll measure up…if it will hurt…if this will be my first and my last time…

See, while I’m no longer a virgin in most respects, I am when it comes to sequels. Restraining the Receptionist, out June 14, is my first. It’s a follow-up to my book, Training the Receptionist. I never particularly intended to write a sequel. But I actually got requests for one, which blew my mind to the point that I couldn’t … well, restrain myself.

I quickly discovered that writing a sequel is really weird. It’s like picking up dolls you abandoned in the toy box. Your characters are still piled there in the same position you left them, waiting for you to decide what to do with them. Last time I saw Dana, Ethan and Simon, a receptionist and her two sexy bosses, they’d finished a hot three-way and had made a deal to continue working/playing together.

Did they have any more stories left in them? Would their voices come back to me, particularly Dana’s, my first person narrator? Would the new story please the readers who had enjoyed the first one? Or (nooooo!!) would it disappoint them? These are questions I never worried about before. But with a sequel, they seem to go with the territory.

The good news is, Dana reappeared without missing a beat. And another character immediately grabbed my attention. Most of Training the Receptionist involved Simon’s relationship with Dana. Ethan was a shadowy figure who only appeared at the end. This time, he took center stage right away. He’s a very strong, very dominant character with some demons in his past. Dana has her hands full with him.

The story that unfurled surprised me, as they always do. The surprise here was how Ethan challenged Dana to discover even more about herself—about her spirit of adventure, and her capacity for trust and surrender. As I wrote, the enigmatic Ethan emerged from the shadows and revealed some of his complexities.

And that turned out to be the most fun part of writing a sequel—the chance to go deeper with characters I already knew and loved.

In a few days, Restraining the Receptionist will be out of my hands and into those of whoever wants to read it. And then I’ll find out how my first time went. Whether it was painful or orgasmically awesome. I already know it was good for me. My first time was way too much fun. I’m hooked.

If I smoked, I’d need a cigarette right now.

How are sequels for you? Do you like reading them? Writing them? What’s the best part and the worst part of a sequel? I’ll choose one commenter to receive a download of the first book, Training the Receptionist
