Comfort reads
Anne is still enjoying herself on her wonderful family vacation so I'm posting for her today. What I want to talk about today is comfort reads. You know those books you've read time and time again yet you always go back to when you're feeling down, can't find a book to read, or just want that guaranteed good read. I just finish one of those. Like I mentioned in my post yesterday I'm so ready for Ash I couldn't seem to read any of the new books in my TBR pile. I needed a guaranteed good book. One I know I love and will give me that fix. I ended up going with Say No To Joe by Lori Foster. Anyone read that one? I love it. Joe is such a hoot. So hot, arrogant, but loving and family oriented.
Another Lori Foster book is in my when-I-need-a-guaranteed-good-book-pile and its Too Much Temptation. LOVE Noah. Can you say yum? That man is so hot and sexy. I will never get tired of that book.
Another author and book in that group for me is Erin McCarthy's Houston We Have a Problem. Houston is so incredibly Alpha. He's one of my favs.
What about you? Do you have books or authors that you'll read time and time again? Books that you pick up when you want to visit old friends or need a guaranteed good read?

Thanks for posting while Anne's having her fun VACA with the family!!! Comfort reads...ah, yes. Anything by Jayne Ann Krentz. Her heroines are sassy and smart and though she has some suspense, it isn't so overwhelming that I get all torqued up. LOL. So yeah. She's one of my first choices. I have the entire collection of her Amanda Quick historicals and those fill the bill nicely too. Also anything by Susan Elizabeth Phillips because her humor is so low-keyed and sweet. Love her stuff.
Bram Stoker's Dracula is my all time favorite comfort read. I read it at least once a month, I own 14 copies in various forms (hardcover, paperback, screenplay..etc) and I love it so much.
I also really enjoy From a Buick 8 by Stephen King. His writing lately has been really hit or miss for me, but that book was an absolute home run. I can read it all the time. It is fantastic.
XoXoXo
Dakota
Figures you'd love Dracula, Dakota!! Lol. I love that one too. Still remember reading that one in middle school and though I'm not a horror fan, it's just so good.
I'd have to say Harry Potter. There's just something about them that I keep going back to time and time again. I bet I've read each of them over 50 times now lol. Also, Janet Evanovich. Whenever I'm feeling down, I quickly realize that I'm never worse off then Stephanie Plum lol.
Amanda Quick is mine, too! I don't read many historicals anymore, but hers always make me happy.
'
And the older Nora Roberts single titles - Carnal Innocence, Divine Evil, Brazen Virtue....
Not a problem, Regina.
Dakota, I don't read too many books that aren't romance. I've actually never read Stephen King.
Willow, Harry is on my list too!! I've read them all numerous times. NOt 50 but a lot. Wonderful books.
Mary, I don't read too many historicals. I've never read Amanda Quick.
Almost anything by Linda Howard, Elizabeth Lowell, Amarinda Jones, Cindy Spencer Pape, some woman named Regina...Jayne Ann Krentz in all her incarnations (including Jayne Castle), Kay Hooper, Iris Johansen, Kelly Kirch, Ruby Duvall, Catherine Coulter's FBI series, Nora Roberts (especially the Quinn brothers!!! or Birthright), Georgette Heyer, John Sandford, Jonathon Kellerman, Charlaine Harris, Jory Strong, NJ Walters, Louis L'Amour, Mercedes Lackey...
Can ya tell that I read a lot? And re-read and re-read...
Nora Roberts' Key Trilogy; I also like Amanda Quick:) And there's some woman who writes about blue people and flowers...
I hope Anne's having fun. We just got from ours a couple of weeks ago and I really miss reading on the beach and reading next to a "river" in North Carolina (I mean if you can walk across it and the water not go up past your ankles is it really a river?)
Anyway, I have several comfort books and I think I'm going to be adding another after I read her other books (just found one today). Kelley you mentioned two books I love Too Much Temptation (and I have his brother Ben's book in my tbr pile) and Houston We Have a Problem. Another one of my favorites is Welcome To Temptation by Jennifer Crusie. I LOVE that book. Now the one I just discovered is Mother of the Bride by Lynn Michaels. Oh that book was so funny. I found Return Engagement (with a Noah) and it looks pretty good too. Now to find the others.
Laura J, Ben's book, (Never too Much) is really, really good too. Noah's still my man but Ben is great too. Let me know what you think when you read it!
Anny, Wow! You do read a lot, LOL. that's a good thing :) I'm jealous.
Ah, I loooove Too Much Temptation. Brother Ben was good too but the first was my favorite.
Yep. I love those Blue people too, Molly. Little pointed ears, tiny fangs and all.
Anny mentioned Catherin Coulter. Damn her stuff is good. The FBI stories are great but I love her historical romances with all the quirky characters.
Oh yes, Lori and Erin are good comfort reads! And SEP, Jennifer Crusie, and some of Julia Quinn. Some Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber, too. I'm sure I have more, but they're buried under that TBR ;)
