Dreams
I'm going to talk about something I find very fascinating and that's dreams. I've always been into dreams. Its amazing the things our minds come up with while we're sleeping. My sister reads books that tell you what dreams mean though I haven't done that yet if I ever come up for air long enough I think I will. I don't remember my dreams very often but when I do they're always really vivid and nine times out of ten if I wake up during the dream it continues when I got back to sleep. Weird but true.
When I was a kid I used to have a reoccurring dream that the only people left in the world were me, my sister, and my mom. Everything was dark and those gargoyle looking things from The Wizard of Oz were chasing us. Crazy huh? I haven't had it for years but that dream kept me awake many nights when I was younger. I haven't had it for years. Actually probably since I moved out to live on my own...funny I didn't realize that until right now. I wonder if that has any relevance?
Before I got pregnant with my first daughter I had a dream about driving in the car and singing at the top of my lungs with a toddler who rode in the backseat in the car seat. In the dream the little girl and I were laughing and singing while driving down the rode. I'd completely forgotten about the dream until one time, years later my daughter and I were driving in the car, Gwen Stefani was on, I was singing and she chimed in, singing at the top of her lungs with me. As soon as it happened the dream hit me, flashed into my mind like I'd just had it. I know the dream was about my daughter. At the time I had it I had no idea but I truly believe that now.
Do you have any reoccurring dreams? Are your dreams vivid? Do you forget them easily or are you like my husband who swears he never dreams because he never remembers them?

Fun post, Kell. I don't seem to have recurring dreams but who knows about these things. You know those deja vu moments most of us have? Maybe it was something we once dreamed? I'm always running to look for something in my dreams and often I speak with people who have passed, my dad or my grandparents. Something ooky things are all over the place. Rats usually. EEK.
I do get recurring dreams, mostly about the mundane. When I was growing up, sometimes my mom and I would have the same dream about the same thing. Our dreams would always come true in some way during the next day. Creeeeeeeeepy, right?
Great blog!
I used to have bizarre, romance-drenched dreams about the men I had crushes on, usually in vivid technicolor! And lately, I've had some weird ones concerning a man who resembles the hero in one of my books...sometimes they are a continuance of the one before. Strange...maybe he doesn't like his storyline and wants me to change it, ala More Than Words by Kelly Kirch???
Great Post, Kell! My mother bought a book by Lady Stern Robinson called The Dreamer's Dictionary. The interpretations of dreams are mostly based on ancient oracles. Really, really neat book. When I have dreams that stay with me and won't let go, vivid, even color, I look up the meaning in this book. And it's right on the mark too.
There is something about dreams. The ancients believed they warned people to prepared for some upcoming event, happy or sad.
I put my dreams to work in my writing. I've written a couple of stories that are based on a dream I've had.
The one dream I do have over and over again is the dream of falling off a mountain. In a car no less.
Not fun at all!
Interesting post, Kelley!!
My dreams are vivid, but then I quickly forget them and I never have recurring dreams. My husband is like yours, he never remembers his dreams. Sometimes he talks in his sleep though, so I know he does dream, he just can't remember them.
Regina, I think deja vu is a mix of dreams as well.
Liane, Wow thats interesting that you'd have the same dreams.
Molly, I've had tons of drea,s about men I crushed on in the past.
Thanks Judith! The book sounds great and what a freaky dream.
Anne Dom talks in his sleep too!
I dream a lot!!! I can remember very vividly and I have had a few deja vu moments as well. I think those are rather cool!
My hubby dreams!!! Not only does he mumble in his sleep about a week ago I was peacefully sleeping and the next thing I knew my hubby slaps me.....not a shift in weight move, an actual slap. I woke his booty up immediately. He said he was being chased by a guy while he was driving a car. Scared me and I couldn't go back to sleep at all!! LOL!!
I rarely remember dreams. Probably just as well. I have enough stuff in that brain without the dreams...
Tonya, love that deja vu feeling!
Anny, LOL. I hear ya there.
I don't have reoccuring dreams but
I've always been able to go back to sleep and finish dreams. I discovered as a teen that I can often program my dreams to what I was as I go to sleep.
I've also always had dreams that come true. Not all of them do, but a fairly good amount of them actually do happen.
I do have reoccurring dreams.
Three have turned into books. Actually make that four.
Also, I dream about people in my family before they died. There was a bad year where I lost my grandma, my grandpa, my uncles dog, and my uncle.
Before their deaths, I dreamed they died.
I haven't had a death dream in a while *whew*, but I do dream plots. I call them Divine Plot Monkeys, and I say keep 'em coming.
I have dreams of course, but not recurring. My mom, however, had a recurring dream that she was a member of the fated Donner Pass party. It freaked her out so much, that when she was on her way to my wedding in California, she let my step-father drive by himself while she hopped a plane to fly over it rather than go through it.
I've had recurring dreams occasionally, or things in the dream will be from a previous dream. When I was a kid, there was a period of about a week that I had a series of dreams where my teddy bear had turned into a giant bear and was chasing me. Sometimes I remember, sometimes I forget. It depends a lot on how I get woke up. Personally, I like dreaming of kissing a certain sexy dude and waking up post-orgasmic. Not that it happens often but it is nice when it does happen. ;-)
Connie, yep I have had dreams come true as well.
Amy, thats awesome about dreaming books. The family part is scary. Glad you haven't had them in a while.
Ashley, weird.
Jackie, I'd like that too, lol
