Heroes and Hair

Does it matter to you what color hair your heroes have? Do you prefer one way or the other as you read? I'm reading Nauti Dreams and I'm realizing I love dark haired men. LOL Or maybe I just love Natches. yowza! This is such a good book. I love Lora Leigh's Alphas!
Besides that though, I've only dated one guy who had blond hair, all the others (including my husband) had dark hair. So, I guess I really do have a thing for those dark haired men.
So, what color hair do you prefer and why? And would you read a book if the hero was bald?
A few pictures to spark your mind. hehe!

The hunky blond. For some reason I always think of a playful, ornery sort of character. Sexy and fun, not overly serious.

The shaggy, dark haired hero with the intense eyes and just a hint of facial hair. A hot, slightly untamed hero.

The close cut, shaved look. Hard body, possibly military, a SEAL, brooding, serious, dominant.

Short hair, with bangs a little too long. Boy next door, but with a wild streak that's just begging to be tamed...or not! ;-)

Short black hair. Hard, powerful, mysterious...and way too much man to handle, but you're willing to give it a shot anyway. lol

So, which do you prefer? And no you cannot have them all. This ain't no buffet! LOL

I've always liked darker hair too. In fact, I have to make sure I try not to make all my heros with dark hair, lol. If I don't think about it and just picture a hero they always have dark hair. I have to work to my hero's blond before I start the book, LOL. My hubby always had brown hair but since he's been working outside so much the past few years its lightened. Not blond but a lot lighter than it was.

Gorgeous pictures. Thanks for the pick me up this morning.

I love dark-haired men. My husband had black hair (hee hee, when he was younger). When I write, I've found most of my men have dark hair. Occasionally they have different colored hair (blond, reddish brown) but not often.

Also long or very short, no in between. Yes, I am strange!

Luuuuvv the visual! Honestly all of those work for me (yummy) though I have historically been partial to dark hair.

Wonderful photos! Honestly, my heroes have all hair colors, but it's always long, at least touching their shoulders. I love long hair on men.

Ummm...guess you wanted to get us all good and AWAKE this morning. I love all these yummy guys. I fell into a trap of writing all dark haired heroes but I'm breaking the mold these days. Nash Logan had brown hair, the color of a saddle (appropriate since he's a cowboy) and Cash Carter from Spanish Topaz is blond. I'm purposely trying to show more variety and NOPE, I have no problem with bald either. As to a vote on these guys...hmm, you don't ask for much do you? LOL. I loooove the top pic. This guy is totally YUM.

Have I ever read a bald hero and liked him? Simon from Simon Says, by Lori Foster. Wowza. (Okay, and my husband shaves his head, too, but that's beside the point!)

As for hair color preference, I don't really have one. Length, though? I love a guy with longish hair. I have a friend with waist-length bright red hair he braids for the Highland games. He even wears a kilt. I have a picture of him being all Alpha that's the inspiration for one of my current heroes. =)

I've always been attracted to men with dark hair -- most my heroes wind up being brunettes. :)

But as far as long or short; shaggy or a military trim... it just depends on the character. Almost anything can be sexy on the right man. ;)

My lastest hero has longer hair which he wears pulled back. The one I'm working with now has medium-length hair with lots of thick waves. Perfect for running your fingers through. (GGG)

I'm seeing a fondness for dark hair here. LOL

Dana Marie--I read that one too and yeah, yum!

I like dark hair, but I think bald is sexy too!

I'm partial to dark hair, although when I was younger, I preferred blondes. My hubby has bright blue eyes which look so striking with his dark hair. He's also VERY alpha male - a total turn on. I prefer any length (hair, that is) as long as it's well kept.

I've got to say I go for the dark-haired hero. A tad longer than is perhaps stylish, which simply adds to his rakish charm, as he constantly needs to brush it out of his eyes...or the heroine can do that particular chore for him!

I've always had a thing for dark guys. I think it's because I grew up in a family with tons of blondes. So the dark haired guys are different. ;-0 Bald or closely shaved is sexy too.

Are you sure I can't have all of them? LOL

Amy--I think bald is sexy too. I want to have a hero who's bald. I just need to think up the right storyline for him. :)

Julie--LOL!! You have to pick! No fair taking them all for yourself! LOL

My last book had two heroes--a menage with one nordic blond with LONG hair and one bald black hero. Both were quite yummy. The heroine was an Italian brunette. So there was something for everyone!

Other books... two blonds, one red-head, four with dark hair, one with chocolate brown, and one with PALE PURPLE (he's a yummy unicorn!)

I'm not picky about the hair color but I like for my heros to have at least shoulder length hair -- I think their heroine/hero needs to have something to run their hands through or in some cases hair to pull:-) lol

I guess I lean toward dark haired heroes. I rarely do blonds, which is funny since two of my favorite characters are blond or light brown hair.

I like long, short or bald, light, dark or gray, it doesn't really matter as long as it's clean most of the time. I'm not big on flat-tops and crew cuts or mohawks.

It's pretty much all good as far as the hair goes.

You expect me to remember you had a point while looking at them? You're not serious. Okay wait, I think I have it. Personally, I prefer dark haired, mysterious men. Too bad they don't seem to like me. My heros have been a mix.

An interesting topic here and I've enjoyed all the comments. Most of my heros have been dark headed or with auburn or brown hair, but I'm writing one now and his hair is blond. I think a bald or buzz cut hero would be sexy. Length doesn't matter, but like someone else mentioned, it must be clean. When I think about the duck tails of the 50's with all that goo, I think 'ick!'

Once upon a time I would have said long dark hair and nothing but. However, I've written blond heroes and red-head heroes. I haven't written a bald one yet but who knows, it might happen someday.

I think I still would put long dark hair on the top of my list though.

Connie--when I first met my husband he had long dark hair and he wore a leather jacket. Now, he's mostly all grey and wears his hair extremely short. I never thought I'd like it so short, but now I can't imagine him any other way. :)

Barbara--LOL! You crack me up! Yeah, those are some pictures, huh?

I like dark hair. I don't care what the length is, I just like it dark. I'm finding that I have a fondness for a nice bald head too. It just depends on the person. Some guys don't look that great with a bald head. If they come off looking like a lightbulb then that doesn't cut it for me. ; -)

BrennaLyons said...

Not to me. Hair color isn't a major turn on or off for me. Now length is worth discussing. But, everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

FWIW, two guys I dated had dark hair. My husband is blond.
