Umm...reality shows...really?

When I was a kid I had the HUGEST crush on Brett Michaels, the lead singer for Poison. I can remember going to a Poison concert, when I was much too young to go to a concert but that's a story for a different day, but I went to a Poison concert and cried my eyes out because I was so in "love" with Brett Michaels. I don't know if you've seen it or not but he now has a "reality" show on VH1 called Rock of Love. Um, can you say, ew? Now I sit here wondering how I could have ever liked the guy, juvenile crush or not. And the women? They aren't any better. They're all either half naked or completely naked the whole show, all trying to get one guys attention will he kisses and sleeps with all of them. That's reality? I sure as heck hope not. Now I'm not going to say that I don't get engrossed in it even though I know I shouldn't. Not only this show but the show Mama's Boys I'm totally trapped in too. It's crazy. I know its crazy while I'm watching them but I can't stop! There aren't a lot that I watch and I'm not a strict watcher where I have to see the show every week, but when I'm flipping through the channels and one of these shows catches my eye, I stop and watch. Internally yelling at myself the whole time but still...I watch.

Yeah, I need a life, I know. LOL.

Do you watch any reality shows? Any that you're ashamed you watch or any that you've seen that you just can't believe they put on TV?

Oh, and be sure to stop by After Dark today at 6:00 PM EST for a chat with Parker Publishing authors! There will be hot excerpts and even hotter prizes!

This is so funny! I was just watching some stupid thing the other day and going...what the HELL???? Why am I glued to this stuff???? Funny.

Actually I don't like the let's fall in love shows. To me they are cheap and tacky. I love Project Runway. It's one of my favorites but it's more about fashion and style then SEX. As an EC writer I MUST sometimes have a break from...ahem...THAT. lol

While at my daughter's for Christmas, they turned on a show about the Kardashian (?) family. I think I stuck it out about 15 mins. Could NOT stand the sheer self-centeredness of that bunch. But when one of them peed in a parking lot, that was it. I went in the other room to read. Ugh. Glad I don't watch TV.

I think the love shows are cheap and tacky too. Don't ask my why the heck I'm watching those two. LOL.

Annie,
Peed in a parking lot? Yeah they'd have lost me there too.

If you love these shows, do not read my post.

This is a call to join the protest:

DON'T WATCH UNINTELLEGENT TV SHOWS.

FYI everyone -

1) "Reality" TV shows are somewhat scripted.

2) The networks are making a killing on these shows because they are way cheap to make and the advertisers pay through the nose to have their commercials run during them. So who's making all the money? The guys at the tippy-top. Not career actors - Not career writers of original programming - Not anyone with a natural gift of entertainment.

3) This is not true entertainment but a product of a lawyer-minded person who thinks they are being entertaining.

So don't be a lemming.

Don't watch just because.

Demand from the networks the original creativity which is the core of true entertainment.

They need to pay real writers real money for real originality - and ENTERTAIN the public!

What else can they make a ton of money on because they don't have to pay a writer for their original work?

Remakes.

Don't get me started.

I like a few of them, like American Idol, I consider that a reality show. And also Surivor Man...the rest I just don't care for.

Come on, admit it, Tonya!

Anne, I like American Idol too.
