Heroes with a sense of humor?

Saturday night we were watching Psych and I realized something. I find Sean hot! LOL It's strange to say that because he's not the typical bad guy, the rough and tough type that women are usually attracted too. (and I SO want him and Jules to hook up!) He uses his brain to get the job done. I'll be the first to admit that the Alpha heroes are just plain hot too. Big, rugged men who know all the right things to say, all the right ways to please a woman, and can catch the bad guy while still kissing the girl ain'tt nuttin' to sneeze at. LOL. Lora Leigh's men for instance. I sooooo love her heroes.

But, here's the thing. There's another kind of hot. The guys who know how to make a woman smile with just a few words. They can fix your frozen computer, sodder a laptop cord back together and even keep you from having to pay for a new dishwasher.

I'm finding those humorous, intelligent men sexy as hell. My husband is a guy like that. I love watching him go all technical. I love it when he says something ornery and gives me that grin. His humor was the first thing that attracted me to him. We could be in an argument and he'd say something silly and totally take the stress right out of the situation. He has always had a way of making me laugh.

But, my biggest problem is, I can't seem to find a lot heroes with that type of humor in books. A few of Erin McCarthy's heroes and some of Lori Foster's heroes had that sort of humor. Maybe that's why they're auto-buys for me.

So, give me a hand, would ya? Tell me some authors who write those sexy, humorous, intelligent guys who know more than banging heads together to get the job done.

And I just wanted to post a picture of my flowers. A dozen roses from my husband, just because he loves me. I ask ya, Is there any gift better? You can keep the jewelry and the expensive restaurants, a dozen roses given 'just because' is the best gift a woman can ever get!

Nice flowers!! A just becuase gift is always the best!!

For books...Unexpected Mr. Right by Kelley Nyrae *wink, wink* Nico is one of those fun loving, funny guys. Hmmm, I KNOW there are tons of authors who write heroes like this but for the life of me, I can't think right now. My mind is blank. Let me look through my bookshelve and I'll post some authors later today. Great blog!

What about Kerrelyn Sparks? Her vampire series is pretty good, and the heroes all have a sense of humor.

Okay I have a couple author names. I don't remember how funny the heroes are but I know the books are really funny.

Susan Donovan
HelenKay Dimon (she cracks me up)
Karen Kelley has a alien series. I've only read the first book and I can't remember the name but it was honestly one of the funniest books I've read. I was laughing so loud in the beginning that my hubby thought I was crazy.

Easy. Jayne Ann Krentz writes heroes who aren't classically good looking but have brains, are quick witted and funny. Even her historical heroes (writing as Amanda Quick) are men who make you drool just by using their brains.

Ooops. Forgot to mention the drop dead funny Sandra Hill's heroes. Yes, they are ultra sexy but have a wicked, naughty sense of humor that makes me laugh out loud.

LOL Anne! I love Psyche. :) The Beta hero is my favorite and you are right--there just aren't alot of books written that way these days.

My NovelTea romantic suspense series is filled with humor. A humorous secret agent type who has his dark side. But I don't know if I am ready to write a character who is as witty as Shawn yet.

THanks Kelley! Nico is like that? I need to get on the ball and buy that book then!

Dana Marie--I've never read her. Thanks for the name!

Kelley--Susan Donovan. I've been told to read her books before. I'll add her to the list. Any one in particular that stands out?

Regina--I do read Sandra Hill and Krentz both! I love those authors!

Molly--Thanks! Yes, I'm very lucky to have him. :)

Cindy!--I had no idea that book had humor! I'll check it out. With this new ereader, I store so many books, it's great!

I don't think alpha and humor are mutually exclusive, at least, not if you define alpha as leader, which I do. A sense of humor is a great asset to a leader because people seldom follow those they don't like.

All my heroes, especially the rodeo clown, know how to make a lady smile, probably because I can't fall in love with them myself unless they do. I like reading Katie MacAlister's books because her heroes all have an underlying sense of humor. Rowena Cherry has a wicked sense of humor and her heroes do, too.

Make me laugh while giving me a Happily Ever After, and I'll be a devoted fan to that author forever. :)

Promo, promo: OK, it's me I''m promoting, but I just had to say, I can't write men who don't have a sense of humour. Dealing with feisty women, who are not at all like me (ahem), I suppose they have to have that essential SOH.

Here is the merest snippet from my blurb: Police Constable Alex Burrows, the son of long time Harbour resident, Colonel Burrows, whose sense of humour has made her laugh, whose tragic personal circumstances have made her cry, whose smile has stolen her heart; turns out to be just as much a liar as Martin.

Great blog. Great way to get people in here reading. Lurrrve it!

Just read Cindy Green's comments, and, oh, yes, Grant from the Novel Tea series has the perfect SOH! The kind that makes you WANT more!
Pant, pant!

Sheryl--I'll be sure to check out your books. And I love feisty women too! :) (thanks for the blog praise as well)

Connie--I TOTALLY need to read those books! Thanks for the reminder! :)

Jacquie,

Thank you very much for mentioning my intelligent, witty, hilariously sexy heroes in Forced Mate and Knight's Fork.

(Djetth in Insufficient Mating Material isn't as witty. He's more competent as a leader and adventurer.)

You should know humor. Your books are funny, too, esp Down Home Ever Lovin Mule Blues.
