My new guilty pleasure

Okay so I have a new guilty pleasure. I'm totally entranced by True Blood.

Last season I didn't have HBO but they did play a few episodes on the free HBO weekend. Loved it then but couldn't see spending the extra money for only one show. Neither my hubby nor I watch many movies so it just wasn't something we wanted to do at the time. Recently we had to switch cable companies and guess what? They had a rockin' deal on HBO. So now I've been going through all the older episodes On Demand and I just can't stop watching. The new episode this week? OMG! I almost died. I can't wait to find out what's going to happen. I haven't enjoyed a show this much in a long time.

What's your guilty pleasure?

In other news I got a great review for my Madison Scott book, Satisfy Me.

Title: The Malone Brothers: Satisfy Me
Author: Madison Scott
Publisher: Liquid Silver Books
Publisher URL: www.liquidsilverboo ks.com

Rating: 4 Stars
Heat level: H

I’m a sucker for women who finally get the gumption to go after the men they want. Maggie’s character is a treat and one that I could relate to. Maggie has settle for years and did what was expected of her, until she actually woke up and realized that wasn’t the life she wanted. Ty is the perfect male for Maggie. Ty is sexy and willing to help Maggie out and fulfill her sexual fantasies as long as she knows it is only temporary. Ty is the type of guy you just love to watch fall in love and see all of their beliefs just crumble with a great woman at their side. The sexual chemistry between Maggie and Ty was actually there before we see them in the same room and when they have sex it is magically hot. I’m sure if there was more time, the raunchy side would have come out, but with this short story it was just hot and simmering.. There were a few background characters that played an important part of the story and I really loved the ghost. Satisfy Me is definitely a summer read that will satisfy you.

Welcome to the dark side Kelly. Now your assignment if you choose to accept it is to get your hands on Season 1 and watch it. If your cable is like Time Warner they put the new season on demand

Regina Carlysle said...

Yeah. That's what I was just telling her a bit ago. I picked up season one at Wal Mart for about $35 and I think it's available to rent at the video stores too.

Kelley Nyrae said...

Oooh, all sorts of TB fans I can chat with. I HAVE to get the first season. I'm going to go look at the rental store.

Regina Carlysle said...

You could probably watch most of season one in one day. Of course, you'd get NOTHING ELSE DONE. LOL

I am addicted to True Blood...I'm reading the books as well while I keep up with the show....How can I not be addicted when I love vampires so much...

I wished I had the chance to be at Comicon to see the cast and catch all the crazy stuff....

Kelley Nyrae said...

I was actually so close to making it to comicon. It's only a little over an hour from me. I also love Twilight and found out they were having a panel. This was on a Tuesday. I planned to buy a ticket when hubster got paid on Thursday and by then they were sold out for the day I wanted to go! Next year we're going and we're getting our tix early. I know Kenyon always goes as well. I'd love to see her booth too.

Have all of you read the books too? I haven't yet.

Hey Rick! I think MaryAnn turns into the beast with the claws. Remember the episode where everyone was going crazy and she started vibrating and dug her hands in the dirt? When they came out of the dirt, they were CLAWS. MaryAnn is a maneade (sp) a follower of the ancient religion of Dionysus. I believe she is an immortal who feeds off excess...sex, food, alcohol, etc.

Remember Sunday night when she put that goat head thing on? I think that is part of what she is. Creeeeeeepy.

I haven't read the books, Kell but my daughter is reading them now and loves them. She says they are really different from the show though.

Not sure but from what I hear, they are loosely following the Charlaine Harris books but doing things a little differently.

BTW...do you have a favorite character yet?

I am a HUGE True Blood fan also! I have read the books and watched all the episodes and just can't wait for more!
oh and Congrats on the review!!!

Rick this website explains a little more Marryann being a Maenad.

I've read all of the books so far, most before the show came on. I love the show too.

My phone ringtone is the theme song from it.

I've made some wallpapers for it too. :0)
I share them for free if you, or anyone else, want them. LOL

Kelley Nyrae said...

Connie, I'd LOVE to see the Wallpapers you made!!

Reg, I have a soft spot for Bill. I love how posessive his is (yeah I'm weird I know). I also and starting to like Eric too. I'm wondering if seeing last season will change those favs at all. Who do you like?

Maryanne freaks me out. LOL.

Unknown said...

Cool, where do you want me to send them?

I'm an Eric kinda girl in both the books and the show. There is more to him that meets the eye and at least he's honest most of the time. LOL
It doesn't hurt that after my Vamp fetish the next is a Viking fetish so he fills both parts well. EWG

I like Eric too. I wondered if there was more to him than meets the eye. I need to start reading the books too!

Unknown said...

I sent all 8 of them!

The books are great. The show goes off track but that's because it needed it to make a show. I figure as long as Charlaine likes they're staying true to the gist of the stories.

I need a "horny viking hat' to watch True Blood because I'm SUCH an Eric fan. Ooooh wow. He floats my longboat. snicker. Now when Bill first shows up in season one, I thought he was sooo romantic and hot but then Eric showed up. He's such a fascinating and layered character.

I also love some of these other characters. Jason is such a cutie but has me laughing constantly and Lafayette is AWESOME. Tara is also one of my favorites. She's just so real you can't help but love her.

Regina Carlysle said...

BTW...does anyone else just love the music on this show? I'm going to buy the season one music for my ipod.

Unknown said...

Regina, I have the theme on my phone. It's also on my myspace and a few other sites I have profiles one. I can't afford the season one soundtrack or I would have it.

BTW Love the hat idea!

Regina Carlysle said...

LMAO! I thought you'd like that, Connie!!! snort. Can't you just see the bunch of us sitting around watching True Blood with those Viking hats with the giant horns???

I know the season one album is expensive but dang it, I like all that music. I'm going to head over to your myspace and check it out.

BTW...my daughter is begging for a Fangtasia and a Merlotte's T-shirt. And in Sept. HBO is marketing a carbonated drink called "Tru Blood". Looks just like the real thing. HA. SOMEBODY is making money on this stuff.

Kelley Nyrae said...

Got them, Connie. I love them.

Eric is HOT, Reg. I love Jason too. He cracks me up as does Lafeyette.

Regina Carlysle said...

Can't believe Jason is really an Aussie. That guy sure has the accent DOWN, doesn't he?

What did ya'll think of that little dance Sarah did to Sammy Kershaw's Louisianna Hot Sauce? Wasn't that funny?

Unknown said...

Regina,
My son (who isn't old enough to watch yet) would love the hate, but my nephew, 23, would freak. LOL

I would love the t-shirts too. Mike, the nephew, likes Sam and Jason. LOL
He found the store and wants some of the stuff.

Kelly,
I'm glad you liked them! I have fun making them and it's more fun to share them. :0)

Regina Carlysle said...

I would love to see those, Connie! *batting lashes* ritathedford at live dot com. lol. Last Halloween I saw lots of pics of couples dressed up like Bill and Sookie. THink how easy that Sookie costume would be. A Merlotte's t-shirt, shorts and a pony tail. My daughter is blonde with just the right length of hair and she is dying to do this next Halloween. Hey! That'll be here before we know it.

Unknown said...

Regina, I just sent you the wallpapers.

I expect a lot of costumes this year. Another good use for the Viking hat. LOL

If your daughter dresses up as Sookie, you'll have to post pics for us!

Regina Carlysle said...

I just got em. YAY!!!! Thanks so much. They're AWESOME!!! Woohoo.

Yeah, if she does it, I'll have her send me a pic that I can post. But honestly? How easy would that costume be???

Unknown said...

Regina, I'm glad you like them! Thank you. :0)

How old is your daughter? I dress up every year but I would have to go as Sookie after she let herself go. LOL

Kell, I LOVE True Blood. A friend of mine let me borrow her season 1 dvds and I watched them all in one weekend. The same weekend as the season 2 was starting.

I love Tara, she sounds just like a friend of mine at work. I think they have the southern accents down pretty good. You know sometimes on shows, the accent is like "we don't sound like that". Did you know that the people that play Bill and Sookie are actually British and the guy that plays Jason is from Australia? That just blew me away when I heard them being interviewed.

I love Eric too. I like his hair shorter this season though. Don't you think he looks like a young Darryl Hall? ; -)

MaryAnne totally freaks me out when she starts all that vibrating mess. Have you noticed the way the eyes of the people turn completely black when they are in the middle of their orgy. Freaky!!!

Sunday night's show was wild. I hope Sam doesn't get killed either.

Congratulations on the review!
