back from vacation

So, we're back from vacation. More on that Thursday. :) I'm too wiped to try and remember all the things we did and saw. Plus, I'm not officially back until Thurday.

However, there is one thing that I wanted to talk about. Road rage. We saw a bit of this on our trip back home. And let me tell you, I was scared. There was a moment there when I expected to see guns.

This was between two drivers. I have no idea who started this, but things got ugly fast. We're on a freeway, everyone is bumper to bumper, 70 mph and suddenly these two bozos come to a complete stop and one starts to get out of his car...on the freeway! Cursing and acting like a complete idiot. The one guy starts to go again, then the other gets back in his car and follows. They're purposely stopping fast and trying to cause a fender bender. Then a third car gets into the act and also stops and joins in. It was like something out of a movie. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. For one, I didn't want a stray bullet hitting us! Also, all the people slowing down to watch was causing an even worse traffic jam.

We saw these two cars later, and they seemed to be fine, both were staying away from each other. The whole thing just makes me shake my head though. We've all had people angry at us at least once. You ignore them and keep driving. Engaging doesn't solve anything, it just amps up the rage.

Where this all took place is not important. Although, I admit, the horrible traffic and the horn blaring did NOT happen in any other state we drove through. Only this one. I just wonder though, do these people have kids? Is this the way the want them to act? Zero tolerance. Someone is mean to you so you strike back. How is that a solution?

Have you ever experienced something like this?

All I know is, I'm glad to be back among my romance lovin' friends! LOL

Road rage always worries me. My hubby doesn't think and he has a problem with flipping people off when they do something dumb. I'm always telling him how dumb THAT is. YOu never know about people nowadays.

Glad you're back and hope you had a great vacation!

Thought I'd share a funny little story with you that my hubby would kill me if he knew I was sharing. LOL. A couple years ago some guy cut us off or something. I can't remember what it was. We were going slow, pulling into somewhere. Well at the stop sign the guy went left and we needed to go right. He pulls up and just rolls and is looking to the left trying to be all macho and giving the guy a dirty look. Well he's not paying attention and he is rolling into a right turn while looking left and something went to turn in front of his and he bumped into their car! No damange to either because of the speed but I gave him a hard time about if forever! That's what he gets for trying to be a big tough guy and giving dirty looks. LOL.

Anne, I'm glad you're back in one piece and I hope that the idiot behavior did not ruin your thoughts of your attention. I had to learn to calm down so that I don't do that. And I have a temper when driving. I've had folks slow down and totally stop in front of me. After one time too many seeing my life race across my eyes, I figured that it wasn't worth it.

There were crazy, did you call 911? I would have reported them if I could have gotten their numbers or at least the closed exit. very scary indeed..

Oh lord, please don't say it was the state of SC you were driving through when this happened. I think we've had enough bad publicity to last us for a while. ; -)

I hope yall had a great time on your vacation. Welcome home!

We've seen a few instances of this. Most recently we were driving through a school zone and this old, old man was in the lane next to me. He was honky his horn, scowling and flipping off the young girl who was in front of him. I don't think the fool realized we were in a school zone. The young girl was driving at just the right speed. He looked over at me and shook his head, scowling and motioning to the girl and I just shook my head. Silly.

BTW...welcome HOME. Now it's time to do laundry huh? ACK!

I've seen that kind of thing here in Phoenix, it's one of the reasons I would love to move to a smaller town. Some of it from my ex....yet another reason he's an ex. That kind of rage terrifies me.

Kelley--LOL that is funny!
Sharon--I always have it in the back of my mind that the other driver is someone's loved one. That helps me to shrug it off.

Saroya--We didn't call anyone. To tell the truth our one thought was to get away from them!

Jen--No, it was SC. LOL And the vacation was great. Too short, but great. :)

Regina--If he DID finally realize I'll bet he felt like an ass!

Connie--We don't see much road rage around here. We all know each other so it's like cursing out your friend or something. LOL Plus, when you're forced to follow behind tractors you tend to learn some patience. ;-)

Welcome back, Anne! Whoa, scary, so glad it didn't escalate further. We just had a similar experience a couple days ago. We were driving on the interstate late at night when six cars right in front of us (3 in line in one lane, 3 in the other) started revving their engines. Then they all slammed on their brakes (with everyone going at 70 mph) and sat there holding up traffic. They were all on cell phones, so it became obvious after they sped up and repeated the annoying act, that they were coordinating it and purposely trying to hold up traffic and/or tip off some road-rage situations so they could have a little fun. This went on for several minutes, then we later learned from the police that they were in pursuit of them (50 total vehicles) who were terrorizing the freeways in one direction, then making u-turns and doing it in the other, and so on. Grrr, it was so annoying, and scary too. You never know what those nuts will do!

Glad you're all safe and the incident is behind you. Hope you had a great vacation!
