Ranting--Celebs & Their Sexcapades

I need to unload, do you mind? :)

Okay, the Tiger Woods scandal. Am I the only one sick and tired of hearing about this man's personal life?! I know that celebrities are out there in the spotlight all the time. Everything they do impacts their career. Their personal lives are always being gossiped about. That's really nothing new to any of us. If you go to the grocery store you see the magazine covers. The two big topics are always sex and weight gain. It never fails to amaze me how shallow it all is. I could care less how much weight Brittany Spears gained. AND I don't care how she lost it either! I really have no use for that sort of crap. Who has time to read all this fluff? Lately it's the sexcapades of Tiger. Various women are coming out and telling all. *rolls eyes*

What boggles my mind the most is that these people DO have families. Does anyone ever consider the kids?? Tiger has a child. What's going to happen when that child grows up and decides to google her dad's name? I personally wouldn't want to know what goes on behind my parent's bedroom door. Imagine finding hundreds of articles and pictures about your dad and his philandering?!

So many people are weighing on this issue. It just makes me crazy! I don't care what the man did or who he did it with. As far as I'm concerned that's something he, his wife and God need to deal with. What I do care about is the total lack of concern for the children. Doesn't anyone ever think of what this crap could be doing to them? It's all so tacky!

My personal feelings are simple. When I turn on the TV I want to watch a show, a movie, something to take my mind off the horrors of the world. When I watch the news I want to see REAL headlines. How's the economy? What's happening in Iraq? That's the important stuff. The trials and tribulations between Angelina and Brad is just meaningless bullshit to me.

Okay...end of rant. LOL

Now, it's your turn. Does this sort of news impact your life?

I'm with you, Anne. This is a family tragedy unfolding in the public eye and it's awful! I feel sorry for his wife and kids.

I said it from the start of this scandal...Leave the man ALONE! We don't 'need' to know if he's addicted to sex/pain meds/whatever; I don't CARE how much money he's spending, trying to shut up any so-called 'other women'; I don't care about 'what will the golf world do w/o Tiger' (honest to god, that was a major topic this morning!!).

What I AM concerned with is his children. And the whole issue of the texts? Give me a BREAK! She was just pissed off because she discovered she wasn't the only one! Where do these women think that by 'telling all', they're doing US a favor? BULLSHIT! It's called Greed, Vindictiveness, and wanting to be the next Paris Hilton.

All I can say is....I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! I get tired of seeing it all too. Not to mention my own kids seeing it...I have to turn the TV when it comes on because I don't want my 8 yo watching it. The media makes everything worse...

I'm tired of hearing about Tiger and the whole thing and from the start I've said that I feel for his kids. My only problem is that kids always look up to celebs. If you're going to put yourself in the public eye, at least have the class to behave and if you're not going to behave then at least misbehave with people that have class too. For years no one knew that FDR cheated on his wife, it was the quiet secret, the only people who knew for sure where his wife, family and mistress.

I'd rather get rid of all the tabloid press and paparazzi, personally. Even though the law disagrees, apparently, I don't think these so-called journalists have the right to stalk people, to bribe private information out of people working in jobs that involve confidentiality, or to libel someone just because he/she is famous.

Libel? Quite possibly. So, some little sex kitten wants her 15 minutes of fame and met celebrity A at a function and got a picture with him. All of the sudden, the man is tarred and feathered with fake accusations to add to the real ones. You see, the tabloids don't have to tell the truth. I'm sure they write lawsuits into their yearly budgets. Hey, it's happened before.

Worse, the whole drama about how upset mistress number 1 is about mistresses 2-9? That's worth news? Let me rant a minute. Your skanky butt is sleeping with a man who is already cheating on his wife, and you REALLY believe he's going to be faithful to YOU? The other woman? Snort. Gullible or dirt stupid comes to mind here.

And even if she did expect it, if she's upset, imagine his wife, who at least has the right to expect fidelity, unless they have an open marriage...which would be none of my business either. I think the wife has a right to be upset. The moment you start sleeping with another woman's husband, without him formally leaving his wife, you forfeit all rights to be offended by his actions, IMO.

And no... I don't think it's good for the kids. I don't think stalkers with cameras are good for the kids...period, no matter what they write.

I'd say to give it a rest, but the truth is that the Hollywood mentality is (in most cases) that, as long as they spell your name right, even bad press is name recognition press. You have to do something really heinous like child porn or something to be bad news. Actors have come out looking squeaky from rape and statutory charges, for instance. Rolling eyes.

This may be TMI, but I've been a biscuit from divorce with a man who cheated on me, and we worked it out and went on to have (so far) 14 more great years together. It's not easy. The kids know all about it, and they are well-adjusted.

But what if the media was all over it? It was hard enough making it work with the family and friends in the middle of the mess...let alone complete strangers making judgments about a situation they have no clue about. As I said, just get rid of all the tabloids and paparazzi, and we'd be better off.

It's crazy. I'm sick of it too. It's sad for his children and his wife but the people telling the stories and writing the mags don't care. For them, it's about greed just as much as it is the women who come forward.

Pat Brown said...

How about when these sleazy mags use the kids themselves to hike sales? How many times have you seen headlines about this actor or celeb couple's kids and either how 'it's ruing them' or they're handling it well? These tabloids stalk the children as much as they do the celebs themselves.

But you know who's to blame? Not the tabloids. If no one bought their garbage they'd stop printing it. It's the people who not only insist on buy each and everyone of them, but they believe the tripe they print. It's a certain segment of society that needs this vicarious thrill and if it hurts someone in the process, well they wanted the fame and this is the price they pay. Those kinds of people, if anything, revel in the pain they cause other people. It makes them feel 'normal'.

The Devil on my left shoulder LOVES all the salacious info -- kinda glories in the garbage about the rich and famous. It's totally based on spite and malice.

But the Angel on my right shoulder feels for this man's wife and children and the shame they (will) feel.

Both shoulders have no sympathy or pity for the emotional retard that is Tiger Woods!

I don't really pay attention to the scandals that make the "news". Their private life is just that; private. I do feel sorry for the children and his wife.

LOL - don't you know Jon and Kate are breathing a sigh of relieve the tabs are moving on to fresh blood?

I may read original headlines but I rarely get past that. They don't affect my life as anything other than a bored pastime and a bad example to follow. I have used them to point out to my son things that shouldn't be done/said....

I agree with your rant, its been mine for years. What I find interesting? of the 10 comments posted, only one said she was sometimes interested, and the 'media' that stuffs this stuff down our throats, insists that they only give us what we want. What BS.

Pat Brown said...

Sorry, but I don't think it's BS to say these rags print what will sell. All entertainment media does. They make money off people's desire to know the most intimate detail about celebrities lives.

BrennaLyons said...

P.A. is right that the rags sell. I think we might be looking at a case of "their primary audience is definitely NOT the people in this group."

I would think that's definitely the case. I also wouldn't be surprised if fans of those types of papers are also fans of Jerry Springer. Just a guess.
