Summer blues??

Summer is winding down. Temperatures in Southern California are soaring into the three digit range and I'm finding all that sunshine is starting to bring me down a little bit. Down? I know, right? Doesn't make any sense, but it is so hot and miserable I find myself yearning for lighter breezes, orange and brown leaves and thoughts of Halloween and apple cider.

I've never really had the summer blues before, but as this August is tumbling along, I'm just finding myself a little bummed.

So... I know I'm extremely early, but to help cheer me up, I'm going to ask a favor of you. TWO to be exact ;) First of all, tell me your favorite thing about fall. Help me paint an internal picture so I feel like I'm there. Second, good books ALWAYS pull me out of a slump. What good books have you read lately? I need some good reading material!

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the beautiful colors of the leaves, the cooler temperatures, hayrides, going to the pumpkin farm and helping my kids find the perfect pumpkin to set out on the porch. I love Halloween and like seeing all the different costumes the kids wear. Going to the Halloween parades are always fun too.

Books I've read lately are Good Girl Gone Bad, Skin and Jaded by Karin Tabke. These are super hot cop stories.

Fall is my favorite time of year too. I love the SMELL of it and seeing the leaves change color. There is a crispness to the air that makes me feel frisky! LOL. Yeah, I said it...FRISKY. Love Halloween and know when it's over my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, is right around the corner. Something about August and this portion of the summer just saps my energy.

As to reading? Haven't read anything lately that I can recommend.

I'm in the same place, Kelley. This time of year marks the end of summer, which means the kids go back to school next week and I hate that.

One thing I love about fall around here is the cooler weather means we can use the firepit on our back deck. Love it in the evenings, watching the flames, sipping a glass of wine with the hubby.

Books--"A Tall Dark Cowboy" by MacKenzie MacKade. Really great read. Also, the next in Becca Fitzpatrick's YA series is coming out in Oct. "Crescendo". I can't wait to read more of Nora and Patch!

I love Fall; I love everything about it. There is nothing prettier than the scenery around here when the leaves have turned. The area where I live here in SC is called the Foothills. We're just about 45 - 60 minutes from the NC mountains. When it is peak season, that is the place to be; especially if you go a little further and get onto the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Of course with Fall comes football. I'm all about me some college football. I live in a small town so Friday nights means you're at the high school football game; it's just what you do around here. ;-)

I love Halloween and seeing all my babies dressed up to go out trick or treating. I just tickles me to no end to see the pure excitement on their faces.

Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. There's no stress associated with this holiday at all.

As far as reading goes, I'm just getting caught up on my Black Dagger Brotherhood books. I just bought Christine Feehan's new book Water Bound. I'm looking forward to reading that one.

I love being able to wear my boots and long sweaters. And scarves. I LOVE them! I have too many really, but they range in thickness so I can gradually wear woolier ones as winter approaches.

I love the crisper mornings (but not the rain!) and that first day when your breath clouds in front of you and you breathe in properly for what seems the first time in ages, giving your lungs a burst of real fresh air.

Books...the last book I read was Regina's Drilled.

:)

I'm reading submissions--which of course are books. lol But nothing for the pure pleasure of it right now. Wish I was. I've got a dental appt coming up with a kid---he's got to get braces. So that will be a good two-hour ordeal and I plan to read some then. Of course that's not till Sept 20. LOL

And it's been so hot in the Carolinas you feel like you're breathing in steam. But yesterday had a nice almost cool breeze and I could feel fall coming on. I love fall. And I'm ready to get rid of the summertime blues.
