Indulgence Day - Go Girls!

I went shopping with the hubby yesterday and saw...Easter treats. Yes, those Cadbury’s Creme Eggs are out in force, as are chocolate bunnies. Before Valentine’s and Mother’s Day? (Mother’s Day is March in the UK.) I’m all for getting ready for things early, but really, we’re only almost halfway through January, for God’s sake! Does anyone actually buy their Easter treats at this time of year? I don’t. I’m still getting over Christmas.
One of the things I detest about the world these days is what is sometimes referred to as Hallmark Days. Any excuse to make a buck, the card companies and shops kind of invent days so that we’ll spend money. We have Grandparent’s Day among others that we never had when I was a kid—not a bad thing to celebrate certain people in our lives, but still, it’s a bit much, isn’t it? What’s going to be next? Wet Yourself Day? Woke Up With That Monday Morning Feeling Day?
Please stop!
I’m going to invent a day that occurs four times per year. Indulgence Day. Yes, you get to pamper yourself, think of only yourself, and the rest of the world can go and play on their own. You get cards and gifts—gifts that are used when indulging yourself. Scented candles—I’m not even going there on the fact that most of them don’t smell—flowers, massage oils, fancy bubble bath, chocolates, your fave drink, a book, a movie, oh, the list is infinite.
What do you say, girls? Who’s with me on Indulgence Day? Choose one day every quarter where you do whatever the hell YOU want to do. Emails can go by the wayside—people will have to wait until you’re done loving yourself. Laundry can wait—people will have to wear what’s already clean or wash what they want themselves. Food—who needs that? Let them make their own dinner! So long as you have your chocolates, cookies, and whatever indulgence food you want, the hell with everyone else! In fact, in the quarter prior to Indulgence Day, start collecting food for your Indulgence Basket. Goodies, lots and lots of delicious goodies, so that by the time your Indulgence Day comes around, you’re hard pressed what to scoff first.
Yes! I declare we should all do this. RAH and GRR and such to those who don’t like it. We’re master indulgers, set to take the world by storm! Go girls!

I am all for Indulgance Day!!! I need it. I agree all these holidays are getting to be a bit much. In my opinion and no offense to Granparents but they are included in Mothers and Fathers Days. They don't get an extra day in my house. I won't even buy Valentines Day candies and cards until next month.

Indulgence Day...what a GREAT idea! I'm IN! Yes, once a year my husband takes his secretaries out for secretaries day and then he gets taken out on bosses day. I think every day should be a 'wipe your ass' day. Really. It is overwhelming and I avoid those Hallmark occasions like the plague. I do the major ones and forget about the rest of them. But I must admit I looooove Cadbury Creme Eggs. I'm in big big trouble if they are already on the shelves.

I saw the Cadbury eggs the other day too! Already! Which is bad, because I love them. Love the idea of Indulgence Day. I'm going to plan one.

Regina - "wipe your ass day" LOL!!

What a wonderful idea! I'm in for sure.

But I do have to admit, I did buy one of the Cadbury eggs when I saw them out for sale. I couldn't help myself. I even pulled over to the side of the road and ate the damn thing in the car so no one would know. Don't know what I'm worried about....I live by myself. LOL!

I plan on Indulgance Day on January 29th. My hubby got me a spa day certificate for Christmas. Yes, and its all day, too.

I agree, Desi. I'm a grandmother, but buggered if I want cards and things for it. Jeez.

Yes, have yourself an Indulgence Day. No guilt, nothing. Just do it!

LOL Reg. My friend offered me a Creme Egg today. I said no. I could smell it, though...OMG!

Yep, indulge, woman. Just pick a day and do it. Mine was Monday. I read all day and pigged out on shortbread biscuits.

That's it, Kelly. You go, girl. And enjoy it to the max!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH @ Casey. You're CRAZY!

Get your indulgence basket ready and have a blast thinking only of yourself. No phone, no computer, just you and a book or whatever.

I vote for Indulgence Day! This way I can tell my family that I have to do it because it's on the calendar! Does that defeat the purpose? No! I will start my basket today!

Hear, Hear!! Champagne and chocolate all around. Everything else can go to hell for 24 hours. I like this idea very much and think we should implement it ASAP.

Me too, Anny. Every Monday for me now.

Indulgence Day sounds good to me. I worry that I'll receive an e-card from a promo ho wishing me a happy one, though. *snicker*
