Trust your gut?
Do you ever get a really strong feeling that something good or bad is about to happen to you? I get them a lot and over the years, I've learned to trust my gut instinct. There have been times that I just knew something bad would happen but I went ahead with whatever I had planned and usually ended up regretting it later. Most of those were in my younger years though. Now I know better. Well most of the time at least.
I've always gotten strong feelings about people when I meet them. I almost always get a really good feeling if I meet someone who I will get along with well, or someone who I know is just a really good person. It's strange the way it works but I'm rarely wrong when it comes to this kind of thing and my own life.
Right now I'm working on a new book that is a little different for me. The hero Russ, is a real tortured hero. All my characters have their issues but none have been quite as tortured as Russ is. For some reason I have a really good feeling about this book. I'm not sure if its just because I like the story, because the hero is dealing with something that I've dealt with in my life with a close family member or because the story is really special but for some reason it feels different to me. Is it intuition or hope? I guess I won't know until I finish the darn thing and see what happens from there.
Do you strong intuition about your life? Do you trust those gut instincts?

Isn't it strange, Kelley? I have those feelings often. In a way, it's like ESP. The feelings about people are the strongest for me. My first impressions are usually right on the mark. Listen to your heart. If you feel really good about the book you're working on, then keep pushing with it. You'll do it!
Thanks Judith. It is very strange but I figure we get those feelings for a reason. Today I should reach the halfway mark in my book! I can't wait.
Great topic, Kelley. And I can't wait to read this story!
Truth is, I never used to trust my gut, usually because I wanted something too badly to care about what my heart was trying to tell me, then later I've regretted not listening.
These days I do tend to listen. I don't know if it's my age or what, but the older I get the more I listen to that inner voice.
I almost always trust my first impressions. When I go against them it usually comes back to bite me.
Kelley - I get that all the time, and yes, I trust the gut feeling.
On the lighter side, my grandmother always says that if your palm itches money is coming.
I like that one.
:)
G.
I do trust my gut, especially about people and situations.
Thanks Anne!
Genella, Itch palms itch! LOL.
Amy, yeah it sucks when we don't listen and it comes back to bite us!
GO with your gut. Chances are, Russ is going to do well for you. Is it because you're invested in him, and the readers feel it? Is it because your promo has an energy about it, because you're excited? Is it pure premonition? Who knows? But in the end, we usually find these feelings spot on!

Yep, it's strange but you know, I wouldn't have it any other way! And major congrats on the halfway mark!!! Good for you!
I've found it to reliable when interviewing for jobs. If I get a good vibe about the person and find something familiar about them, I know I'll get the job. Eerie.
