Summer + writing=pain in the ass

So, I've discovered that attempting to write in the summer is NOT an easy task. I could blame it on the kids being home, but that'd be a big fat lie. It's me. Allllll me. LOL

They've only been out a few weeks so far and already we've:

Gone to the movies.
Shopping, twice.
Visited the grandparents.
Gone to the park.
& spent a great deal of time watching rented movies.

This week the plan is to go hiking one day and also go see the new Transformers movie (can't wait!). Yep, I'm a bum. No doubt about it, I've been playing instead of working.

That's not to say I'm a complete loser. I HAVE gotten some work done. I've started a short story and it's moving along nicely, but still, it's slow because the weather is freaking gorgeous and I just don't feel like sitting in the house!

How do you all force yourself to write when you could be swimming, laying in the sun reading, browsing your favorite store at the mall, off on a picnic....see? It sounds inviting doesn't it? So, how do you MAKE yourself stay indoors??? Please, help me! My muse has taken a freakin' holiday here!!! LOL

In other news, I got a GREAT review from Mrs. Giggles. Remember the gal who said one of my characters reminded her of Norman Bates? (that still cracks me up) Well, she's reviewed my latest release, Taking Chloe, which has been on the Samahin bestseller list for THREE WEEKS now! Yay!

Anyway, here's the review: Check it out!

I'm having the exact same problem, Anne. There's just too much going on. My daughter is off to college on Aug. 18 and it seems there are a million and one things to do. But that's an EXCUSE too. BLECH. I'm just not motivated. I'm leaving town on Thursday and I'm challenging myself to get at least another chapter on my WIP. Challenges help immensely.

It's very hard. I've been doing the same thing and it's not as if things are any different for me because my kids aren't old enough to be in school yet. LOL. I don't know how to get myself back on track but I must!

Congrats on the review.

All of those summer activities are so tempting, especially when the winter has been so long and we're all dying for anything summer related. Last year I finally broke down and purchased a lap top, so I do a lot of writing outside. It's helped a lot. I feel like I'm getting something done, but I'm not stuck inside on a beautiful day.

There are SOOO many things to do and I just have the hardest time sitting still. I feel like a little kid, lol.

Debra, great idea. We do have a lap top, the hubby has to fix it, but once it's up and running again I think I'll drag it to the park with me!
