Bunny Up!

Okay! Time for everyone to BUNNY UP! Tell us about your Easter weekend. What did you eat? Who did you see? Did you travel? I would loved to have hit the coast this weekend. I heard that Regina had some bad Easter weather.

How many of you ODed on Chocolate? LOL I actually ate a marshmallow PEEP last night! Woot! My family grilled out. Very non-traditional for us. I usually do turkey and ham and all the trimmings. This year it was bbq ribs on the grill, corn on the cob, mac 'n' cheese, and green beans. AND? Store bought pies. Lemon meringue and razzleberry. What's razzleberry? A combination of blackberries and raspberries. lol

It was a nice sunny day. Got a little hot in the afternoon and I almost turned on the AC. But then I thought about my promise NOT to use AC until June 1. Sighhhh Wonder if I'll be able to keep that promise? LOL The power bill here this winter was ridiculous. But then spring took its time getting here, so we ran the heat much more so in the past couple of months than normal.

C'mon, share your holiday fun with all of us. We'd love to hear about your individual traditions!

And today's book trailer is by Karenna Colcraft for her book Seeds of Desire from Ellora's Cave. Love the music. So sexy! You can find out more about Karenna and all her writing by clicking HERE!

Thanks for posting my trailer, Tess!

I didn't get any chocolate bunnies for Easter. The only chocolate was in the robin eggs that hubby bought to put in my kids' baskets.

My 12-year-old was upset that she got Peeps because she's in the process of getting braces (they're doing a few teeth at a time) and isn't supposed to eat marshmallow.

I got an basket from hubby with Pretzel M&M's, Junior Mints (a huge weakness of mine)and Reese's buttercup eggs and a bunny that "talks". We went to church, stayed for the brunch and the egg hunt. Hubby smoked a Beef Rib Roast and we had all the trimmings. My deviled eggs were awesome, as usual. It was very low keyed. We will celebrate with my family this weekend.

Our son didn't get too much candy. More money than anything.

Kareena,

Loved the trailer. Thanks Tess for posting it.

We had a pitch-in with two other families. We provided the ham, deviled eggs, potatoes, and raw veggies and dip. They brought other side dishes and the desserts. I also hid plenty of plastic, candy and money filled eggs for the three kids, so a good time was had by all:)

I OD'd on hot rolls and choc-pb eggs:)

No Peeps for braces and that's a fact. lol Going through the same thing with my boy. He got chocolate. Loves chocolate. Big chocolate bunny. lol

Love the book trailer, K.

You made out like a bandit, Harlie. I swear. Reeses? Yum. I love 'em. And the food sounds delish. My kids got money too, but I didn't go crazy this year at all. Time to get tough. lol

Ohhhh, celebrating with the neighbors sounds like a cool idea, Molly. If I had any neighbors I liked, I might just try that some time. lol

Most of my neighbors are very very old and no longer do much of anything. And I live out in the country--kind of isolated. So---hmmm...might have to move to do this. lol Not a bad idea, really. LOL

Sounds like you had a great day, though. Love deviled eggs. I made those too.

I bought the last Cadbury chocolate cream egg at Walmart this morning. Ate it and got a wicked case of the runs! I guess I should take that as a sign that I need to give up chocolate for awhile.

Tess MacKall said...

LMAOooooo P-Diva. Well, no. I really shouldn't, should I? I'm sorry. I can't help it. The last one, huh? Hmmm...means it had been skipped over and was sitting there just lying in wait for you! Too much.

I didn't have one single bite of chocolate this weekend. I may have to go find something now. I know there are some bunny ears or tails around here somewhere!

A very quiet Easter at home. I gave the hubby a chocolate bunny. He just loves those hollow bunnies! I cooked some lamb and we drank some wine and snuggled. I caught up with the some shows on demand.

Made a small basket with a few chocolate eggs and Shell gas gift cards for my adult kids! Those were appreciated. I went to the ballgame to see Orioles/Yankees and the kids came to my house and cooked dinner. Heavenly Ham, asparagus, mashed potatoes and cherry pie! That was a good day for me considering it was also my anniversary!

Tess MacKall said...

OOoooo lamb. I haven't had lamb in a while, Marie. Hmmm...must cook that soon. Snuggling sounds good too! LOL

Dinner sounds delish! And it was your anniversary too! Happy Anniversary, sweetie! How many years?

And gas gift certificates. PERFECT GIFT these days regardless of the occasion I'd say. Sounds like a nice time for all.

Traveled. Colored Easter eggs with the grandkids. Went with them to a farm for an Easter egg hung. Bowled a million Wii games with them. Daughter cooked fixin's. Son cooked ham.

Two pieces of candy. Oldest grandson bought donuts for brekkies Easter morning.

Don't watch TV at home so watched The Sniper, Independence Day, Terminator 4, and a zillion Dual Survival. Learned all sorts of things. Can you tell the guys picked out the shows?

I want Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury on my side the next time I'm stranded in the wilderness. Cody can build a mean teepee and Dave's an excellent turkey hunter... :-)

Happy Easter Tess! I blogged about my guilt-free food indulgence on Easter, actually, lol. Right here for those who'd like to pop in and read about it: http://eviebalos.blogspot.com/

Our main meal consists of barbecued lamb chops, chicken and sausage. Sides are oven baked potatoes, artichokes, salad, and various phyllo-type pies stuffed with spinach and cheese.

Dessert: the Italian zeppola was mouthwatering.

I didn't get anything for Easter. :( Although on Saturday I got a necklace with charms that had been blessed by Pope John Paul II, from my godmother :)

I went to church, forgot to pick up the Confirmation dress I was going to get from a friend, and ate breakfast out with people from our choir.

But Ed from the choir picked up his rosary I'd made for his granddaughter, so I went out today and got a dress I could wear. It's a purple and flowered one, and with an orange cardigan and my strappy sandals it should look pretty good.

(I just wish I'd gotten something from my parents for Easter.)

Ahhhh Anny, you're so funny. The dude makes a mean teepee and the other can hunt turkey. LOL Which reminds me, I had a red fox cross the street in front of me this morning. In town!

Overall, it sounds like you had an incredibly nice Easter.

Hugs...

I ate three different kinds of homemade pie. Chocolate Cream, Apple Cinnamon and Triple Berry. I am just now coming out of my sugar coma. LOL But it was so worth it.

Tess MacKall said...

Food sounds delish, Evie. I said in a comment earlier I hadn't had lamb in a while. Must do that soon. I'll hop over to your blog when I get caught up on email and see how all of this was guilt-free. lol

Tess MacKall said...

I'd say you had a spectacular Easter, Nicki. WOW...a necklace blessed by Pope John Paul. That's pretty amazing.

I'm phasing out Easter with my kids. Pretty much non-existent when it comes to gift-giving.

Tess MacKall said...

You just reminded me there is at least a slice of lemon meringue in the fridge. hee hee hee...It's mind, I say...all mine! Glad your sugar rush is chilling on ya, Melissa.

Sorry I'm just getting over here to comment today, Tess. Running behind and yesterday was as crazy as Easter Sunday. A few computer problems too (on top of the other madness). Yes, lots and lots of storms for us on Easter. Baseball sized hail, pouring rain...the works. We escaped the tornadoes thankfully. Sounds like you guys had an incredible meal.
