I want to go back on vacation!

I'm back, did you miss me? *grin* I know, I know, you didn't even notice I was missing. Where'd I go? Bar Harbor, Maine. My kids, husband and I spent last week enjoying the cool ocean breeze, eating lobster, hiking through Acadia National Park and basically just reconnecting as a family.

We all needed this break.

You know what I love about vacation? It's not the location or all the exhausting activities. It's simply getting away from all the stress of work! The phone ringing off the hook. The daily chores that pile up. Family drama. Errands! It all gets put on hold for one week out of the year as we spend time getting to know each other again. It's so easy to drift apart, isn't it? My kids are teenagers now and my husband has a pretty demanding job. Not to mention that being an author usually means spending hours and hours a day on the laptop. Even though we live in the same house it's easy to become ships passing in the night. Vacation means laughing together, sharing silly stories, not bothering with makeup, eating junk food and staying up way too lat.

Going to Bar Harbor has become our thing. This year there seemed to be several things attempting to keep us from going there. None of us were willing to admit defeat though. We were determined to make this happen. We just NEEDED to get away.

Here are a few pix!

Me and the girls...this was taken at Seawall...very cool place to watch the ocean crash against the rocks.

Rosalie's Pizza, the best pizza in Bar Harbor!

The girls acting silly. I love seeing them laughing and getting along so well. :)

Otter Cliffs, Acadia National Park...gorgeous here!

Piling our stuff into the bed & breakfast we stayed at. It was nice, if a bit cramped.

Me and Alisha attempting to stay on the rock. The breeze was awesome here.

Katilyn enjoying the scenery

Alisha loves the ocean. She could've watched the waves for hours.

The three of us. I think this is at Otter Cliffs.

the four mile hiking trail. It was supposed to be one mile. We took a wrong turn. LOL It was great fun!

Downtown Bar Harbor. We stopped to eat some ice cream and I snapped a picture.

We took a million pictures, but I don't have it in me to post them all. At any rate, a great time away with my husband and kids. :)

Also, don't forget that tomorrow my NEWEST Samhain story releases! Yay! "What She Wants" is the start of a series. Check it out here

Vacations?

So, what sort of vacation do you all like to take? For the past few years we've made the trip to Bar Harbor, Maine. We LOVE it there.

Here are a few pictures of last year's trip.

We do a LOT of hiking at Acadia National Park. It's gorgeous!
This litte restaurant is called Cafe This Way. We love going here for their breakfast and coffee. (random customer and employee there, lol)

And of course the gorgeous rocky shore (more random people)

This was taken inside the little lobster pound we like to go to. Thurston's Lobster Pound. Yum!

More pictures of us just messing around, exploring, enjoying the cool breeze off the water.

One of the HUGE lobsters at Thurston's. :)

So, any fun plans for vacation this year? And here are a few Monday Hunks!

Vacation Pix!

Bar Harbor, Maine is such a great place to vacation. Very touristy, but fun. The mix of people was interesting this year. There were so many languages that it seemed English was rather unique to hear. The best part about visiting this time of year is that the weather is perfect. Breezy and warm. We had sun most days and it rained once.

So, here are a few pictures!

This is the fantastic view from Cadillac Mt. You really feel as if you could touch the clouds.

Thurston's Lobster Pound. This is the lobster my husband got. Nearly 3lbs. He was in heaven. LOL

This is a view of inside Thurston's. It's a great little place situated on the dock. It's rustic and simple. I came up with a new story idea as I watched the boats moving through the water.

This is the view from the trail we hiked. It was DIFFICULT! I felt like I was rock climbing or something. There wasn't really a trail to speak of either. Just large boulders and very narrow areas that were way too close to the edge. Still, it was worth the effort because the scenery is breathtaking!

My girls, grinning for the camera. LOL

This little place is called Cafe This Way. It's a great, artsy restaurant. They offer breakfast and dinner, no lunch. The paintings on the wall is all from local artists and for sale. This is a fun spot to sit and sip a cup of coffee and just enjoy the atmosphere.

The girls in the car. They made great use of the camera on the way there. I've got pictures of feet, bags of skittles, pants legs...lol

The Atlantic Eyrie Hotel. We were on the top floor and had a great view of the harbor.

This is where I sipped Caronas and did absolutely nothing but relax. It was GREAT!

And now, it's back to work.

Laundry

writing

dishes

errands...

WHAHAAA! I wanna go back to Maine! LOL

back from vacation

So, we're back from vacation. More on that Thursday. :) I'm too wiped to try and remember all the things we did and saw. Plus, I'm not officially back until Thurday.

However, there is one thing that I wanted to talk about. Road rage. We saw a bit of this on our trip back home. And let me tell you, I was scared. There was a moment there when I expected to see guns.

This was between two drivers. I have no idea who started this, but things got ugly fast. We're on a freeway, everyone is bumper to bumper, 70 mph and suddenly these two bozos come to a complete stop and one starts to get out of his car...on the freeway! Cursing and acting like a complete idiot. The one guy starts to go again, then the other gets back in his car and follows. They're purposely stopping fast and trying to cause a fender bender. Then a third car gets into the act and also stops and joins in. It was like something out of a movie. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. For one, I didn't want a stray bullet hitting us! Also, all the people slowing down to watch was causing an even worse traffic jam.

We saw these two cars later, and they seemed to be fine, both were staying away from each other. The whole thing just makes me shake my head though. We've all had people angry at us at least once. You ignore them and keep driving. Engaging doesn't solve anything, it just amps up the rage.

Where this all took place is not important. Although, I admit, the horrible traffic and the horn blaring did NOT happen in any other state we drove through. Only this one. I just wonder though, do these people have kids? Is this the way the want them to act? Zero tolerance. Someone is mean to you so you strike back. How is that a solution?

Have you ever experienced something like this?

All I know is, I'm glad to be back among my romance lovin' friends! LOL

Anne Rainey takes a siesta!

Hey All!

As you're reading this, I'm most likely in Traverse City, Michigan. What am I doing? I'm relaxing and enjoying some much needed family time. It's been a good year. But there's also been a lot of pitfalls. I need this vacation like you wouldn't imagine.

My kids aren't getting any younger. I'm feeling the years slip by fast. They'll be 13 and 15 this September. Ouch1 I need to spend as much time with them as I can. Soon they won't want their mom around!

So for this vacation we plan to do lots of exploring, shopping, grilling out, fishing, relaxing, partying (wink, wink) and much more!

Last year we went to Bar Harbor, Maine. It was fantastic. By the time we were finished, we were ready to move there. It's so beautiful. I had this vision of having a little place right on the ocean. I'd write all day long. My husband would...do what husband's do. LOL We're wondering if Michigan will be as wonderful. I have my doubts (I really loved Bar Harbor, lol). My husband is pretty sure I'm gonna have to drag him back kicking and screaming. LOL

Here's a few pictures of Traverse City that I found on the internet. When I get back I'll share some more personal photos.

Where we're staying.

Where we'll be sipping our wine.

Lighthouses we plan to visit.

Lunch and Shopping! Oh yeah, baby!

Romantic sunsets on the water, mmm...

Now, I ask ya...does it get any better?!
