Mother's Day

I had such a wonderful Mother's Day! I feel like it lasted the entire weekend. Saturday we spent the day as a family doing yardwork and landscaping. It was tiring, but fun because we went totally off the grid. No computers, no bothering with cell phones or any of it. Just family time.
Sunday, my fantastic husband fixed me breakfast (that man can really cook!), and my kids got me a $50 gift card to Starbucks (yum!). And I got a surprise phone call from my brother who has been out in Wyoming for the last three months filming his hunting show. It was so good to talk to him! After the kids and I vegged for a few hours, we got the house cleaned up and had my parents down, and one of my other brothers stopped by for a visit as well. We cooked steak and hot dogs on the grill and enjoyed the wonderful weather for a bit. Then Kati, my oldest, surprised me with a pedicure and a facial. My toes and my face feel so loved today!
I told my husband this was the best Mother's Day ever because we spent the entire weekend enjoying family time. No working on the computers for a change. I hadn't realized how badly we needed to reconnect, ya know? It's so easy to get caught up in the daily chores. The girls laughed with each other, instead of arguing. It was music to my ears to her them getting along so well.
I love Mother's Day. It reminds how lucky I truly am!
Moms, how'd you spend your special day? And what'd you all do for your own mother?

Sounds like a great day. We went to see a friend for breakfast who was down visiting from Oregon and then Dom, the girls and I went to the beach together. It was Kelsey's first time. We had a blast, playing in the sand, burying each other. We hardly ever get to do stuff like that. This was my favorite mothers day too.

This is a lovely post and made me smile. I spent mother's day hanging out around a hotel pool with my mother, my grandmother, my daughter, my sister and her baby son. It was heaven.

Kelley--Isn't family time great? Why don't we do things like this more often?!

Elle--That does sound like heaven! I wish my grandmother was still alive, I think my daughters would have gotten a kick out of her. :)

That sounds like a great day! I enjoyed my Mother's Day too. My hubby made breakfast too -- yum! Blueberry pancakes and bacon. I opened my sweet cards and my guy and girls got me an anti-gravity chair to lay out with. It's awesome and so comfortable. Then we went to an orchard and had a delicious lunch and the girls played on the huge slides and playground. Then we came home and I read my new book in my new chair in the sun. It was a fab day! I didn't get on the computer one time all weekend. :) It was definitely a wonderful day!

We had a giant cookout at my house. My mother and hubby's mother were here and my son was in from college. Fun time. I actually spent the weekend reading a book and didn't have the computer on much. I haven't done that in ages.

Sophia--That sounds like a heavenly day, lady!! And don't you love when your man cooks for you? There's just something so romantic about it. *sigh*

Regina--I totally should have been writing, but I just had way too much fun staying away from the computer! What a nice change of pace! :)

What a fantastic day! Every mom needs a bit of spoiling, don't you think?

Unfortunately mine started a wee bit earlier than I'd anticipated, with daughter bringing me breakfast in bed and a handmade card at 7.30am. Not quite the sleep-in I'd anticipated but lovely just the same.

Son was at a birthday party--which turned into a sleepover--so I didn't see him till 3pm but he did give me a really big hug when he got home.

And husband vacuumed the entire house and cooked dinner. Legend!

I remember my kids used to say "There's Mother's Day and Father's Day, why isn't there a Kid's Day?"
Our response: "Because every day is Kid's Day!" LOL.

Pity every day can't be Mother's Day. But hey, I'm happy to give up breakfast in bed as long as I still get my daily quota of hugs and kisses!

You all sound you had great days! We slept in (Yeah! First time in AGES) and I enjoyed the heck out of it. Then, we went to (believe it or not) my daughter's soccer game. Where she played one of her best games ever. They won 3-2 by the way.

Later that evening we went to Olive Garden. It was crowded and a zoo but we went anyway because I have a serious addiction to their "All you can Eat" salad. We put our name in and were told it would be an hour wait. (Yuk!)

Then not two minutes later a girl asked if we'd like to sit in the Cafe. Which is basically just the tables on the outskirts of the bar.

So, just like princess I was wisked away to my table only moments after entering the restaurant. At which point a had a glass of Reisling wine (my favorite) and enjoyed the heck out of my salad! :)

Maree--Vaccum?? Dang, can I borrow him? LOL

I felt so pampered I was ready to start a Daughter's Day. It only seems fair! :)
