HUH??? Gray already???

A few days ago I found these cooler than cool sunglasses. You know the kind I mean....the EXPENSIVE ones. I tend to not do well with pricey accessories considering I lost a high dollar watch while decorating the Christmas tree a few years ago. I swore I'd never again by expensive accessories after that little episode.

So what do I do? I find these cooler than cool Ed Hardy sunglasses that featured a glittery dragon on the side-pieces. Now, I've never been one to blow money on stuff like this. After all, I'm not in the sun all that often. Most of the time, I'm buried in my little room pounding out a story.

Well, I gave in. I wanted those sunglasses. They were hot and hip and, after all, that's what I want to be, right? Ended up heading out yesterday to pick them up and I'll be damned if I didn't glance into my rearview mirror and see....GRAY HAIR. OMG! Time for an appointment with my hair goddess. I'm actually blonde and figured gray, wiry hair wouldn't be a problem for me. Boy, was I wrong about that one. That wasn't the big thing though. Suddenly I wondered...are these sunglasses too young for me? Are they too hip? You know...me and my granny hair might not be able to take the excitement of cool looking crystal dragons on the sides of my funky glasses.

Aw, well. It was a moment of insanity, that second-guessing. I am who I am, regardless of the age or the appearance of cool, way-too-expensive sunglasses. Life is short and gray hair or not, I'm going to have a little fun. The glasses are very HOT by the way!

Woman you are never too old for cool, glittery dragon glasses.

I want a pair now.

And I found a gray hair on my writer's retreat and I can't see my hair guru (cause mines a man) until AFTER I give birth to little James.

I don't care how old I get, I'm going to buy nice accessorires and listen to No Doubt until I die. LOL!!

Given what we write, I like to think we're all HOT MOMMA'S no matter our age. :)

Srsly, I want to see these sunglasses.

I actually posted a pick of them on my Regina blog. Maybe I'll post it over here next week. They are AWESOME.

Glad you bought the glasses anyway. YOu're never too told. If you like them, get them :)

I'm 29 and pull gray hairs out of my head all the time. My mom is 59 next month and has no gray. I think mine is stress related. LOL.

AMY---You put James! You usually put *J* I like it!

Awww. I do too. It's strong and manly. Of course, he won't be a MAN for a long time...thank goodness. lol.

Actually, I thought since I'm a natural blonde I wouldn't have to stress about gray hair too much. It honestly doesn't show much, mainly around my hairline but the texture is YUK. I know it's there though and that's the main thing. Soooo off to the hair goddess for me.

Gray hair is sexy on a man. Not on me. I color it! Started the moment I found the first one!

Mine is a calico mix of gray, white, brown, and some other shades in there so I color it a champagne beigey color. With all the underlying colors, it comes out a lot of pretty shades that harmonize.

I hate gray hair. And even though I am blonde, I can spot them easily. As you get older hair dye becomes your friend... LOL

And as I get older I feel better about myself. I've even done some boudoir modeling last year and this year! Of course my best friend owns the business and she talked me into doing it... I have a few of the pics on my blog on the side if you scroll down a bit... Not too bad for someone who is going to be... gulp... 40 next month!! LOL

You are not too old to be cool, woman. Glad you bought the dragon glasses. I bet they're awesome.

As for the gray - I highlight my hair every six months to hide mine.

Glad you bought the sunglasses! Nothing nicer than cool shades. I have to color my hair or I look like Cruella Deville. The front of my hair is pure white, the rest of it my natural dark auburn. So I color the whole thing my natural color. It's so weird! If I had that nice gray hair, I might leave it, but it's two-tone and there is a distinct line of demarcation between the two sections.

I started graying when I was 16. I am now 41 and have more gray then my mom, I am at 40% silver Mine is actually the pretty silver, hehe mom has the yucky yellow/gray.

I LOVED going to the amusement park when I was young. I would play the "Guess your age" game. I ALWAYS had to show ID when it was done because they wouldn't believe my age.

I don't color my hair. I have colored it once or twice, but I don't any more. If I did, I'd use the "out in 20 washes". Because I'd start missing my gray.

I'm now starting to find a couple of Gray eyebrows, I don't think I am liking that.

It sucks that men seem to gray so flawlessly. I mean...look at Richard Gere. The man is completely silver and he's hotter than ever! It doesn't seem fair, does it?

Regina Carlysle said...

I agree. Some gray is more SILVER and that's just beautiful. Mine doesn't really show but I know it's there. Just bugs me. I do highlights to brighten up the whole look and hopefully that pesky gray will just go away. The problem is the TEXTURE of it. It's curly and wiry and I just know when the heat of summer hits it, I'm going to look like a giant frizzball. lol

HA. Julia!!! I'm picturing you with Dalmation puppies stuffed in your pockets...snicker.

LOL I color my hair and have for years. I started because some of the medicatons I take make my hair look dull instead of shiny. Since my bad marriage I have a lot more gray, especially at the temples. even the Faria wasn't covering the temples for long. My skin when extra sensitive recently had I was afraid I wouldn't be able to color it anymore but the doctor said there was color for sensitive skin people and to check with my hair stylist. I have a great lady that does it and since I can't afford to pay for salon hair colors she does it for the price I was paying at the store.

I've "conditioned" mine for ahem years. But the conditioner no longer touches those grays. I've given up. It's going from blond to gray with each haircut.

I need some sexy sunglasses to make me feel hip and young!

Amy Ruttan said...

Yeah I usually put J, but my brain has turned to mush.

I'm glad you like it Kelley. :) It's my grandfather's name.

Regina Carlysle said...

LOL. Funny, Nina. We just have to do what we can, ya know? If it takes cool shades, then so be it.

LOOOOVE you sexy avatar, btw.

Regina Carlysle said...

Have you noticed the salon prices going up??? WOW. Being 'beautiful' is getting pricey these days.

Susan Macatee said...

I agree. I have graying hair, but I wear it long and flowing, just like I did back when I was in high school. And I don't see any problem wearing things that are young and hip. Since I work out with weights, my arms and shoulders are buffed and I love to flaunt them by wearing tank tops all summer. You're only as old as you feel.

Oooooh, I could never pass up a glittery dragon!

Every time I cave and get expensive sunglasses, they dissapear! It's the $3.00 ones that stick with me FOREVER!

I've got a lot of gray. I haven't been to a solon in years though. I just do it myself at home. If i need a trim, my husband grabs the sissors. LOL

R,
Hip and cool is a state of mind, dahling' and you are definitely in that state of mind! Gray or not. lol
I found a few a couple of years ago when I came back from the Army and my sister had her, um, drug problem (putting it nicely) and I plucked them out. They left for a while, and after my son went into basic training they began to reappear. Yes, stress related, I believe. I stopped dying my hair years ago, looks like I'll be coming back to it again.
With my back injury and surgery, I feel old enough already. Nothing like a few grays to send you over the edge, and I'm going no further willingly.
:}

I loooove the dragons. I'll post em next week.

Regina Carlysle said...

I've always heard that stress causes gray hair. I've known people who have been in serious accidents who'll have one major patch of gray somewhere.

Mary Ricksen said...

It's a state of mind. If you feel hot you are! And you're the only one that matters. You do what makes you smile, no matter how old you are.

Laughter and being happy does more than anything to keep us young!

I love accessories. I once had a pair of sunglasses with a rhinestone heart in the upper corner of the right lense.

As for grey hair, up until last fall I colored mine all the time. But then going to the pool every day ruined my color and it seemed a waste of money to spend money on hair color that wasn't going to last. So I stopped coloring my hair and then had surgery to remove basil cell carcinoma from my eyelid and couldn't go into the pool till it healed.

Now my daughter needs my car to go to school (until the end of April) so here I sit, no pool, grey hair...so where are those glasses to be had?

Love,
Morgan

Ahhhh. Bless your heart, Morgan. Bet you could order some cool ones. Mine are Ed Hardy's and looks like they are carried lots of places. I found mine locally in a eye doctor/eye glass place that happened to carry designer sunglasses. I love accessories too, especially PURSES. I'm a nut over them and always spend far too much money but I love a good bag.
